Nissan Leafs manufactured in Japan for use in Japan are known as JDM models. These vehicles are commonly exported used, and sold in many markets around the world.[1]
Key characteristics[edit | edit source]
- They are Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles
- They have mostly Japanese writing on the buttons, and Japanese language for the AV Control Unit, Around View Monitor Control Unit and Combination Meter.
- They typically come with a factory-installed toll device which is not usable in other markets
- They come with an EVSE designed for Japan's 100V power supply, which is not suitable for other countries which use 120V or 240V.
- They can be equipped with features not found in other markets, such as:
- a factory-installed dashcam which is controlled through the AV Control Unit.
- an electronic rear-view mirror which can be switched between standard mirror mode and a rear camera feed (from a dedicated camera which looks through the rear window)
- "Music Box", a feature of the AV Control Unit which can automatically rip CDs and store them (where?)
